Becoming: A Journey Through Change for Girls (Delivered to Boys ages 9-12)
Growing up brings a lot of change, and a lot of questions!! Becoming is a warm, girls-only space where your daughter learns what’s happening to her body and feelings—calmly, accurately, and without fear or shame.
Please Read Before You Sign Up
This workshop is only right for your daughter if she’s ready for it. Ready means she’s at the start of these changes, or getting close. For example:
- Her body has started changing, or you’ve noticed the early signs.
- She’s started asking questions about periods, her body, or growing up.
- She’s curious, or a little nervous, about what’s coming.
- Girls around her are going through it and she’s noticing.
If none of this feels true for her yet, please don’t sign up for this one. The content won’t land for a girl who isn’t there yet, and there’s no rush. Amana runs this regularly, and there will be a right time. If you’re not sure where she is, message us before you book and we’ll help you decide.
Workshop Information
Audience: Parents Only
What Happens in the Workshop
Over 90 minutes, we cover puberty and the monthly cycle in simple, age-appropriate language, explore emotions and how to handle them, and talk about hygiene, confidence, and body respect.
The approach is gentle and modest throughout: real science, everyday metaphors girls relate to, and nothing graphic or frightening. The session is girls-only, held in a private setting, and opens with a simple promise: no question is silly, and every body grows on its own timeline.
What’s Included
- 90-minute girls-only workshop (English).
- A take-home Becoming Kit with a feelings journal, comfort items, and practical essentials.
- Hands-on activities, including a real period-kit walk-through.
- A 15-minute parent follow-up (in person or online) to continue the conversation at home.
Led and designed by Dr. Asmahan, Child Psychologist and Founder of Amana.
What We Will Cover
- What puberty is and why bodies change, explained simply and calmly.
- The monthly cycle: what a period is, why it happens, and how to manage it.
- Personal hygiene and self-care during this stage.
- Emotions: why feelings can feel bigger, and simple ways to handle them.
- Confidence, body respect, and understanding that every girl develops on her own timeline.
- Knowing that no question is silly and where to go for help if needed.
- Personal choices remain with parents. We provide accurate information while families decide what is right for them.
We keep the workshop modest throughout. Nothing graphic, nothing about sex or reproduction beyond what a girl needs to understand her own cycle, and nothing intended to frighten or rush her.
We do not cover sexual content, relationships, or topics beyond understanding her own body and feelings.
